Meta-owned social media app, Instagram, recently revealed a refresh to their logo, gradient, and typeface.

Headquartered in Menlo Park, Instagram gives people the power to build communities and bring the world closer together. The photo and video sharing app allows over its 1 billion monthly users to upload media that can be edited with filters and organized by hashtags and geotags. Users can also express themselves through features such as reels, stories, and live videos.Β

Since its conception, over 40 billion photos and videos have been shared on the Instagram platform. The social networking service allows content creators to connect with their fanbase and build their online influence. Instagram also enables businesses to share and grow their brand with a diverse community of followers.

Instagram was founded in 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. In April 2012, it was acquired by Facebook, Inc. (now known as Meta Platforms). The app is available in 32 languages across systems such as iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows.

According to a website post about the change, "Our new system is designed to embrace continued evolution to help us create more immersive and inclusive experiences for our community."

"Through illumination, the gradient signals moments of discovery in our marketing, logo and even in-app as seen in Create mode, stickers and Instagram Story rings," according to the post in reference to the refreshed gradient. The typeface change was also done in part to support other cultures: "We partnered with language experts around the world to adapt the typeface to global scripts including Arabic, Thai and Japanese."
