Sendwave is a mobile app that makes it easy and affordable to send money internationally, especially to Africa and Asia. Founded in 2014, it quickly grew in popularity.

In August 2020, Sendwave was acquired by WorldRemit for about $500 million. Following this, WorldRemit rebranded as Zepz, and now both Sendwave and WorldRemit operate under Zepz, strengthening their role in the global money transfer market.

Sendwave refreshed its identity and introduced a new look in April 2024. The goal was to create a design that resonates with users and reflects its mission of making money transfers as simple as sending a text message. Working with Design.Studio, they introduced a fresh, updated look for the app.

Sendwave's rebranding brought several key changes:

  • New Wordmark: Sendwave remove the penguin that wave at you and replace it with more bold and curvier wordmark.

  • Symbol Design: The new symbol features two symmetrical wave shapes that form a globe, representing Sendwave’s ability to connect communities around the world.

  • New Typeface: Sendwave introduced a custom typeface named “Sendwavy” that was built in collaboration with Florian Karsten Type Foundry. The typeface has playful wavy curves and custom glyphs, adding a fun and unique touch to the brand’s identity.

  • Color Palette: The new brand identity is led by a bright sunny yellow as the primary color, supported by a rich dark brown.

  • Brand Tagline: “For here. For There. For home.” showing their commitment to serve more of your financial needs, helping families stay connected across the world.

  • Community Approach: Sendwave’s rebrand reflects their dedication to supporting migrants, expats, and global citizens. The brand aims to be “in your corner,” recognizing the role of these individuals as everyday heroes for their loved ones.
